2025 Railway Gala Weekend
Gala Weekend is on Sat/Sun 19/20 July - we welcome two visiting steam locos:-

'Woto' - Bagnall 0-4-0ST 2133/1924 from Apedale

and 'Jennie' 3905/2008, a Hunslet built Kerr Stuart Wren class 0-4-0ST from the Amerton Railway.

It is planned that both locomotives will feature on our passenger train service throughout the weekend.

2025 Steam Days
With Polar Bear still undergoing its 10 year overhaul, only one steam locomotive, Peter WB2067/1918, will be available in 2025. Planned steam days are here.

Polar Bear (W Bagnall WB1781/1905)

Photo: Phil Barnes

The plate for the new footplate and cab floor has now been cut to shape and fitted. A test fit of the water tanks has confirmed that all the holes have been drilled in the right place. Work has been proceeding slower than we had hoped so, unless this changes, Polar Bear will not be returning to service this year. No one's fault; this is how things stand at present.

A Just Giving page has been set up to raise the funds needed for this task. If you would like to help by making a donation we will be extremely grateful. Thank you in advance for your generosity. (Don't forget to use Gift Aid if you are a UK tax-payer as this increases the value of your donation by 25%)

Peldon (J Fowler Resilient JF21295/1936)

Peldon's clutch and gearbox rebuild has now been completed and the locomotive was included in our summer Gala Weekend running minus its cab and bonnet. Repainting and reassembly of the bodywork have now begun and it is hoped that Peldon will return to service later in the year.

Visiting the Museum
Because of limitations on the number of cars that can be accommodated in the car park, visitors to the Museum, including members, are recommended to book their entry tickets in advance to avoid disappointment. The Museum's booking app will show "Fully Booked" once the limit is reached. However, if you are arriving by train or other means and you won't require a parking space, entry to the Museum will still be possible. There is no limit on the number of visitors allowed on site.

With that in mind, please use this link to book your tickets.
