Official Opening of the Hove Ticket Office

The official opening took place on Tuesday 25 June 2006 attended by invited guests and Museum staff and volunteers.

As befits an official function such as this, the entrance was bedecked with flowers and displays together with the obligatory ribbon to be cut at the appropriate moment.

Final touches, such as the old style station seats, added to the scene. Have we ever looked so smart?

The great and the good (plus a few railway volunteers!) - looking just as smart, gathered on the opposite platform.

Howard Stenning, the Museum Director (centre), outlines the history of the building and the story of its acquisition by and reconstruction at Amberley. On his left is Keith Ludeman, Chief Executive of Govia, with John Foxley, now Chairman of Trustees at Amberley on his right.

Keith Ludeman expounds the virtues of the Museum as a location for the ticket office.

John Foxley cuts the ribbon to officially open the Hove Ticket Office as another fine addition to the scene at Amberley. The first occasion on which it proved extremely useful as additional exhibition space was at Railway Gala Weekend in July.

Set dressing - 19th Century railway uniforms and serving wenches!!.

Wendy draws the train into the platform to take the visitors down to the restaurant for a buffet lunch and a glass of wine. We do things in style at Amberley.
